GN Version 3.1

- Some of THQ’s brass is more excited about the Nintendo 3DS than the Sony NGP
- THQ is very interested in bringing games to the kid-casual side, which they see 3DS as a good fit for
- THQ prefers to own the brands they work with
- to THQ, it’s more important to have their own library than to pick and choose among a huge number of large studios
- THQ is taking an “artists first” approach to game development going forward into 2011
- THQ wants to make sure a team is inspired by an idea before they move ahead
- THQ doesn’t think 60-hour epics are going to be around too much longer
- they want to focus on core ideas and let the player create the experience they want out of that
- THQ’s logo changed to showcase their new approach to gaming
- they wanted “a new flag to fly and a new shield to carry.”
- THQ’s relationship with UFC is great, and the UFC people don’t mind taking chances with things like UFC Trainer
- THQ wants fully-formed ideas to hit store shelves, which is why they might take a little longer than others to adapt to new control schemes and platforms
