Dear Reader:
Wall Street Journal doubts Brain Age
“(There is) Little scientific evidence that engagement in mentally stimulating activities alters the rate of mental aging.”University of Virginia’s Timothy Salthouse
“Even in the most mentally engaged elderly — chess experts, professors, doctors — mental function declines as steeply as in people to whom mental exercise means choosing which TV show to watch.” Sharon Begley - Author of article
Joystiq states that the article makes the point that trained brains do perform trained tasks better. For instance, in Brain Age, when you are racing the clock to answer all the addition problems, you are going to perform better then someone who hasn’t been boning up on their math lessons. While Brain Age may not help you slow the aging process, it does help you stay sharp.
