Wii Nunchuk wires/analog sticks turning pink?

By looking at the picture above, you might think that these Nunchuks were the victim of some kinds with dirty hands. Candy, finger paint, or something along those lines. Well, to my surprise, that isn’t the case at all. Apparently this issue is cropping up for multiple Wii owners, and as of right now there is no solid explanation. Nothing was spilled on the cords/analog sticks, and the owners are making sure their hands aren’t gooped up before they play.

We have some really smart readers here…what in the world could be causing these Nunchuks to go pink? Huge thanks to Araknid for the heads up.
