Insomnia’s Alex Kierkegaard may have named his latest article ‘Non-games are for non-gamers’, but you can see by the link to his article that he clearly has quite an immature opinion about people that enjoy training games, and other non-traditional software.

I’ve also grabbed Mr. Kierkegaard’s intro statement, which sets the tone for his article very well.

Seems self-evident, doesn’t it? And yet good luck trying to find a single gaming outlet that gets it. From online (and offline) behemoths such as Fanitsu and LameSpot, to all the professional blogs out there — regardless of size — I’ve yet to find a single one that treats non-games the way they should be treated — i.e. not at all. But why should anyone care if a little extra effort is expended to cover them? Let me explain why.

I have been a gamer for 20 years…and I enjoy almost all genres. That list also happens to include non-traditional titles such as Brain Age and My Word Coach. Yes, it’s true…I can enjoy games like GTA IV, Super Mario Galaxy, and Halo 3…and also get the same enjoyment from training titles. I guess some of us are just a little more open-minded than others.
