I have written this little blurb 4 times over because I just don’t know how to voice my frustration with some of the gang at Tech.Blorge. I can’t tell if their articles are just attention-grabbers, or if their extreme dislike of Nintendo is the real deal. I’ve never seen such unabashed hatred for Nintendo, or pure fanboy-ism for the 360/PS3. Perhaps I am just taking the bait by linking to their articles.

I just know that, as a Nintendo fan, I wanted to share the article with you. I am not saying that I think that everything Nintendo does is right. I am saying that I really do disagree with this article.

The traditional hardcore gaming mentality is a relic of our industry. It’s time to be a hardcore gamer that actually welcomes newcomers, such as those that enjoy the Wii. You don’t have to like casual titles, or games that focus on the expanded audience. If you want this industry to thrive and survive, you need to welcome and respect the new lifeblood that is being injected into our world. By all means, play the games you love…but don’t bash those that play games you don’t enjoy.

I am a hardcore gamer, without a doubt…but I am an adaptive one. I happen to enjoy many casual titles, just as much as the big ‘core’ games. I think it’s great to see new gamers coming into a hobby that we’ve love for so long. They aren’t killing our market, they are helping us to evolve it. A game industry where truly anyone can find software that they enjoy. Sounds like a pretty great hobby to me.
