Pl'¤ttchen: Twist 'N' Paint - bongo support removed at Nintendo's request, plus new mode information

I don’t know what is up with Nintendo, but it’s like they hate the DK Bongos. They yank support from DK Barrel Blast, and now they won’t let a third party use the bongos for a WiiWare title. Plättchen: Twist ‘N’ Paint was supposed to feature a multiplayer bongo mode, but Nintendo asked the developer, Bplus, to nix it. Nintendo believes that keeping that support in would alienate users that didn’t own bongos.

“On the one hand we are very sad that we had to remove the DK Bongo-Feature at the very last moment in development. However, we understand that Nintendo wants to focus on Wii hardware. On the other hand we are glad to present the Bomb Rain Party Mode which is one of the most hectic game modes ever seen in any videogame.” - Bernd Geiblinger, art director

It’s a shame that the bongo support was removed, because the party game that featured them sounds like a great time. The now removed ‘Tank Mode’ could have up to 12 players working cooperatively…4 players with Wiimote, 4 players with Nunchuk, and 4 with bongos. The bongo players controlled the tanks. Drumming on the beat of the music would spin the tanks, and clapping would fire. It was the tanks’ job to take out the other 4 players.

Since this mode was removed, Bplus has another new mode that is set to take the spotlight. ‘Bomb Rain Party Mode’ is once again an 8 player game, with people sharing Wiimotes and Nunchuks. This game plays out as a normal round of Plättchen, until bombs start dropping, Then, all 8 people have to continue playing all while avoiding the bomb barrage.
