Los Angeles, Calif., (July, 2008) – According to NPD, a global provider of market research, sales of video game accessories for May were up more than 30% over last year. What does this mean? 2008 accessory sales will easily surpass 2007 sales of $621 million, giving retailers and wholesalers even more incentive to participate in this immensely profitable segment of the video game market.

With gamers spending over half a billion dollars on video game accessories last year in the United States, peripheral developers are constantly looking to develop new product innovations that improve gaming for the consumer and provide retailers and others in the distribution channels with substantial profits .

“For gamers, accessories are the bells and whistles that enhance the fun and quality of playing video games,” stated Tom LaVoie, President of Red Lion Interactive, the Nation’s leading wholesaler of video game accessories. “And for retailers and distributors the margins, especially from third party manufacturers, are higher than most other product segments.”

Continued LaVoie: “Accessories generate significant revenues for retailers and provide consumers with substantial benefits as well. Video game peripherals play a powerful role in the $18 billion dollar game industry and can benefit everyone throughout the supply chain.”
