Nintendo Caring About Hardcore Gamers Is Good For Everyone

Is Nintendo ignoring the core gamer? All the Nintendo bigwigs are saying no, but many a core gamer is saying yes. Even longtime NIntendo fans are having trouble swallowing what Nintendo is putting out. In my personal opinion, while E3 was a bit boring for the core Nintendo fan, we can’t say that Nintendo is ignoring us. The absolutely blistering pace Nintendo set with their first party titles was unprecedented.

We had so many core entries from Nintendo staples, and so quickly one right after the other. When you look at it, I honestly don’t know what Nintendo fans expect. It takes time to make Mario, it takes time to make Zelda and Pikmin. We were on the upswing for a long time, and now we have to suffer through some downtime. This is when third parties should be swooping in and giving us a ton of great content.

It’s simply not fair to ask Nintendo to keep pumping out the AAA content. Nintendo has always said that they are about quality, not quantity. I don’t want a Mario sequel in the next 6 months. If we did get one, I would be that the quality would be far below what we are used to. We played Sunshine, and there were gripes. We waited, and waited…and we got Galaxy. Try to tell me that that wasn’t worth the wait.

Pikmin, Punch-Out!!, Kid Icarus…they are all coming. We even know that Mario and Zelda teams are hard at work. Kirby, Animal Crossing, and Wario are just around the corner. Fatal Frame will see a release in the states. Rhythm Heaven, and Pokemon are coming to the DS this year. That’s a ton of titles from one publisher, and I tried to keep my list down to only core titles. Nintendo is bringing out other titles for the casual/expanded audience too. I know there are some of you that enjoy those titles, as well.

Seriously…what more do you want, and how much faster do you want it?
