Square Enix’s popular Mana series has captivated audiences for more than a decade and the franchise is continuing onward in the upcoming Nintendo DS title Children of Mana. An action adventure game with gorgeous 2D art, Children boasts real time combat, four-player co-op, and plenty of stereotypical RPG trappings such as a gigantic sacred tree, a magical sword, and a hero that has lost his parents in some catastrophic event. Hey, I never said the game was original! However, and at the very least, it should be quite entertaining, with the humongous boss characters, frantic swordplay, beautifully animated full-motion sequences, and off-the-wall characters. It may not be anything you and I haven’t seen before, but it’ll most likely turn out to be a decent action RPG with plenty of over the top shenanigans. Look for it during the week of October 30.
