Tamigotchi still popular

Thought I would hold off on this story until the weekend, nice filler story. Another DS game has broke through the million seller barrier, and this time it is Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisetchi, better known to us as Tamagotchi.

Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisetchi will be released in the US under the name Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop. Basically you will help Tamagotchi run stores and provide services to other Tamagotchi, and then be ranked on those skills. Think Wario Ware but with a Tamagotchi theme.

The Japanese have gone crazy for this game, but I don’t know that it will match Japanese sales stateside. Does Tamagotchi still have selling power over here? All the Tamagotchi fans have long since grown up, and probably fell out of that phase. Will we see a new market appear for Tamagotchi, or is will it be a mix of the franchise and the DS that helps push the game?
