A portion of a Destructoid interview with Micah Skaritka from High Voltage…

D: Can you talk to me a little bit about making the game? Specifically for the Wii — did you help with the Wii build?

MS
: It’s actually a demo [of The Conduit]. People will [sic] be able to play the game. The level [on the demo] is one I actually [helped create] for the game. The game itself is actually one of High Voltage’s original IPs. The company is really excited about this…We tweaked [the build] a little bit for PAX. But when [Nintendo] saw [the demo at E3] they were impressed. Nintendo need[s] something that show[s] off the Wii for the hardcore.

The whole idea for the game was for the casual market. But as we went on, we realized that there weren’t any first-person shooters on the market with good graphics on the Wii. I think a lot of developers that make FPSs on the Wii say, ‘let’s do this so [the player] can use the Wii shooter’ And it doesn’t work. You lose half your control.

*UPDATE* - There seems to be some confusion going on. People are getting the impression that there is a PC version of The Conduit. That is not the case at all. The author of the article has cleared things up. I’ve posted his explanation below.

Whoops. Okay – I hammered it out with Skaritka just now. At Gen Con, Micah and I talked fairly casually. We started out just talking basics and he mentioned a PC version only because that’s where High Voltage started the development process. They “moved quickly from the PC” to the Wii to get the controls down, etc. We misunderstood each other. I’m really sorry about this mix up. Hopefully, I didn’t get many of you excited about the prospects of playing a Wii game on your PC.
