Seaman sequel, where is it heading?

Talk of a sequel to Seaman was brought up over a year ago. Back then, the title was heading to the PS2, as this IGN article states…

The biggest Japanese Dreamcast game of all time is at last getting a full sequel. Tentatively titled Seaman 2, Sega will bringing the sequel to the PS2 platform. Vivarium, the developer of the original, will head up development efforts on the sequel, with company president Yoot Saito serving as producer.

A year has gone by, and we haven’t heard one single word of progress on the title. Now 1up is claiming something a little different may be going on…

How come we haven’t heard anything, though? Some speculation suggests a platforms shift, with Seaman 2 ending up on the Nintendo DS or Wii (or both?), but we’ll have to wait a couple more days to figure out what Sega’s been up to for the past 12 months.

An announcement is due to hit by the end of this week. I agree with 1up, why haven’t we heard one bit of information on this sequel since it was announced? Seems rather strange…perhaps a platform change was in order! Thanks to PasstheWiimote for the heads up.
