Nintendo says they have plans to look at other companies to supply the accelerometer for their Wiimote. Right now, STMicroelectronics is the company that provides the $3 chip. Other companies such as Kionix Inc, and Tronics have solutions that could easily be adopted for the Wiimote. Apparently, some small improvements could come with the inclusion of a new chip. Be prepared for these companies to fight tooth-and-nail for Wiimote placement.
