Making Games Art: The Designers' Manifesto
When I was at GDC, I heard a bit about the ‘games as art’ debate from a developer at Bethesda. I don’t remember the wording exactly, but the message was clear as day. Everyone at that conference, as well as all the gamers following the industry already know that games are art. We don’t deny that at all…so why do we try so hard to convince others? Gaming will come into its own, just as all other forms of entertainment did. Let’s just enjoy what we know.
