“We look for the thread between all types of gamers. Surprises, experiences that you can’t get any place else, fun, competition… that’s what core gamers want. All of our games do that. We certainly want to make sure that our ‘core’ fans, our loyalists, absolutely understand that we will always be committed to making sure that we bring to market games that they absolutely love, whether it’s beloved franchises or new experiences.” - Denise Kaigler, VP of marketing at Nintendo of America

Denise goes on to discuss a range of things in this three-page interview, including Nintendo’s stance on micro/macro transactions…

“Macro-transactions are interesting, but we don’t do that because we want to be able to give consumers a total gameplay experience when they buy the game. It’s not something we want to do.”

Finally…what is Nintendo’s stance on the console wars?

“People like to put us in this whole rivalry, the videogame wars, where all these platforms are fighting each other. But we don’t do that. The media loves to do that because it’s fun, it’s sexy, and it sells, whatever. We don’t play that game because it is important that we understand that it’s not about that necessarily. It’s about trying to understand what we believe will make videogame players happy.”
