I’ve always thought the idea of adding sense of smell to gaming would be awesome. Used in the right way, it can only enhance your immersion. While most of us thought that something like this was a pipe dream, the engineers at Birmingham University are making it a reality.

Their prototype device only costs $25 to put together, and it is capable of holding over 100 scents. Developers can use this box in correlation with key moments during games in order to deepen the experience. No word on whether this device will be made available for consoles, but if it is, I really hope developers take advantage.
