UPDATE - Reader wavebuster let us know that the 'Powerful Mario' N64 music is played when you get a star while using the modern Mario amiibo costume.
Well...that's certainly interesting. What in the world are Super Mario 64 sound files doing in Super Mario Maker? Leftover data that means nothing, or is there something else going on here? Thanks to Tytygh for the heads up!
