SEGA talks Sonic E3 announcement, upcoming merch, theme park plans

The following comes from Ivo Gerscovich, chief brand officer for Sonic the Hedgehog and senior vice president of SEGA of America & Kristen B. Zimmer, retail licensing manager for SEGA of America.

- will be some kind of Sonic announcement/event at this years E3
- events at PAX, San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic-Con
- 25th anniversary party at the House of Blues in San Diego
- for the House of Blues party, there will be celebrity guests and surprise announcements
- official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel will be re-launched with the creation of short-form content, animated shorts and brand influencer integration
- official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitch channel which will be used to for regular gaming-specific uses and live streaming of events
- range of Sonic jewelry from Love & Madness & Han Cholo
- there will also be street style fashion, headwear and cold weather products
- merch including back-to-school items like stationery, games and puzzles, housewares, sporting foods, food and health and beauty aids
- Drop Dead for adult apparel, Iron Gut for a range of limited edition prints and a direct-to-retail deal with Forbidden Planet
- OTL for electronics, PMS for gifts and accessories and Smith and Brooks for apparel in Sports Direct stores for the U.K.
- Journeys Kidz will be ‘taken over’ by the Sonic brand
- Amazon & Toys R Us will also see their web presence ‘taken over’ by Sonic later in the year
- Sega is looking into Sonic theme park attractions
