GN Version 5.0

Wondering how much XP you can grab in Pokémon GO before the game's anti-cheating measures kick in? It looks like the magic number is 600k, as player Jimmy Derocher.

Jimmy set out to achieve a goal of earning 1 million XP in Pokémon GO over the course of 24 hours. He was going to do this through completely legitimate play methods and no cheating. The plan used a walking loop of 10 PokéStops, each of which had lures dropped out. Again, a completely normal and legitimate way to play.

After Jimmy hit the 600k mark, Pokémon started to run away as soon as he tried to catch them. This is actually an anti-cheating method that Niantic put in place. They don't think you are able to amass more than 600k XP in a day without cheating, and this mechanic was implemented to shut down cheaters. Too bad Jimmy was a legitimate player and did nothing wrong, but ended up with a soft-ban for 24 hours.
