Nintendo files patent for trading card set featuring amiibo tech

Looks like Nintendo might have another idea in the works for amiibo. amiibo cards aren't anything new, as they've been out on shelves for quite some time now. The difference here is the fact that these amiibo cards are made as part of a trading card set. The patent shows them interacting with a 3DS, but it's clear that the change here is that the cards appear to be necessary to play the game. With this patent, it's easy to imagine a Pokemon game which uses amiibo cards. Something that combines the worlds of Pokemon video games and the trading card game scene.
