Pokemon GO Fest 2020's commercial was directed by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director, Rian Johnson
The force is strong in this spot
Pokemon Co. put out a special trailer for Pokemon GO Fest 2020, which also happens to mark the 4th anniversary of the game. To celebrate the special occasion, Pokemon Co. reached out to Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson to create the debut promo video. That's a pretty big name to have attached to the game!
Johnson worked with Niantic and The Pokémon Company International to create this spot during the lockdown. It was Johnson who came up with the unique 'peeling back' feature you see in the spot. It also doesn't hurt that Johnson is a well-known Pokemon GO fan!
