Dear Reader:
LucasArts says classic adventure games can't fit on DS, gamers cry foul
We’ve already posted on LucasArts claims that the DS card size is too small for old-school graphic adventure game ports. Now, I’m no genius when it comes to ports, file sizes, and all that…but something just didn’t seem right with that statement.
The largest DS card is Archaic Sealed Heat, which clocks in at 2 gigabit (or 2048 megabit). Thanks to our comments section for that info! Lets look at some of the file sizes for classic LucasArts adventures…
- Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis (62 MB)
- Full Throttle (192 MB)
- Day of the Tentacle (100 MB)
- Maniac Mansion (6 MB)
Hmmm…seems more than possible, to me. Also…isn’t there that entire homebrew scene that has already gotten these games working on the DS? Come on, LucasArts…what’s the deal here? Was this a simple confusion of words, and LucasArts was referring to RAM?
