Is Nintendo abandoning their core base?

Well, I fit in as much as I could, but now I have to run out to more keynotes. I wanted to leave you guys with a topic for discussion through. Various outlets seem to be reporting that Nintendo has completely abandoned their core fans after their E3 conference. I personally don’t believe that to be true, but I’ll save up my detailed thoughts for an “End of day” post. I wanted to hear what you guys had to say about it. Is Nintendo leaving fans behind for the expanded audience, or are we all being catered to?
