Research firm says Super Mario Run hit 90 million downloads, 3 million have purchased the full game
Coming from market research firm Newzoo...
- generated more than $30 million in gross revenue
- roughly 3 million players have bought the full game
- this is just over 3% of the estimated 90 million downloads of the game
- for comparison, paying customers represented about 2% of King Digital’s monthly unique users, as well as Zynga
As you can see, the vast majority of mobile users just aren't willing to pay $10 for a game. They either want their games to be 99 cents, free, or have the appearance of being free while offering all sorts of microtransactions.
