The most recent Nintendo Direct was filled with tons of surprises and reveals, and nestled inside the presentation was the announcement of MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. It was a reveal that caused many a Nintendo, Marvel and Capcom fan to shed a tear and cheer, and that’s exactly the reaction Marvel was looking for.

Marvel recently kicked off an official podcast, and their debut episode featured a discussion with Marvel Games Product Development Manager Laura Hathaway. The topic of MARVEL vs. CAPCOM Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, and Hathaway was clearly very happy that the curtain was finally pulled back on this secret.

“We’re always looking for ways to really surprise and hopefully delight our fans. The idea of bringing these games back was always really, really exciting to us, so we’re glad to finally be able to announce it.”

This was genuinely one of the best announcements in the Direct. These games were absolutely dead. Deader than dead! And then like a phoenix, they're somehow back again. Absolutely wild.
