NBA trade means NBA 2K18 will have to change its cover

NBA 2K18's standard cover features Cavs superstar Kyrie Irving. As of today, there's a slight problem with that. Irving has been traded to the Celtics. That means the cover simply doesn't make sense anymore. Talk about a last-minute change that puts 2K in a rough spot. No word from 2K yet on what they'll do about the cover, but they certainly don't have a lot of time to rectify things.

Ubisoft dev calls the Switch "unprecedented", applauds seamless gameplay opportunities

A portion of a WeWriteThings interview with Andrea Babich, lead narrative designer on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle...

“The name says it all: the seamless switch between handheld and couch-style playing. This is something unprecedented and it allows players to focus on the same game in very different moments and contexts of the day.

When a game is good, you want to keep playing at that game without interrupting the flow of your choices and actions. I can play at the office during lunch break, then stop, then leave in the evening and resume playing on the bus, then I’m home and resume playing again, always in the stream of the gameplay with reasonably little pause.

What surprised me is how well it works for big, deep games. You never lose the thread. You keep the pace. This was so true for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, for example. And I think it’s the same for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.”

Footage of the Ojo Switch dock projector in action

It looks like a neat idea, but I'd still be nervous to put my Switch in there. I'd worry about heat or something causing problems. I'm sure the Ojo guys are thinking about that stuff, but I'd still worry.

Toys R' Us not offering SNES Classic Edition preorders

Well, there's one savior for those of us who are trying to get a system without a preorder. Get ready to line up nice and early on launch day!

RUMOR - SNES Classic Edition may not release in Quebec

Coming from a VICE article...

The SNES Classic will launch in Canada on September 29, but not in Quebec, according to two EB Games employees in the Montreal area who spoke to Motherboard under the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to media on the matter. According to both employees, who were located at separate stores, this decision is related to the province's notoriously strict language requirements, which protect the use of French in the province and mandate that business be done in French.

We've heard of this situation before with other products, so this isn't hard to believe. Hopefully Nintendo sorts things out and gets the system released in Quebec.
