MTV pays out big royalties for The Beatles: Rock Band, still not that interested in peripherals

What, did you think working with The Beatles’ catalog of music would be cheap?!

Of course it isn’t, which is why Viacom guaranteed a minimum of $10 million, along with another potential $40 million in royalties to the estates involved. That’s a nice bit of pocket change, if you ask me. I’d take just the minimum and be more than happy!

MTV has also stated once again that they’re not really looking to do more in the peripheral space, as creating and manufacturing those things isn’t cheap! Paul DeGooyer, senior vice president at MTV says that he’d rather Activision “take on the burden of getting those super-tight margin instruments out there.”
