I think giving Mario his hammer for his forward and up smashes would make a lot of sense. I could also see justification for making his iconic forward-aerial spike a hammer attack, too.

It's crazy to me that Mario's down air isn't the ground pound considering how many characters have that, though I suppose that could be the argument for why Mario shouldn't have it...

I think Cappy would be a much more interesting side special for Mario sans capturing the other character (I feel like some companies wouldn't like the idea of their characters being "possessed"). Mario could simply through out Cappy as a projectile and Mario and foes could jump off it just like in Mario Odyssey! They could even work in Mario's dive to show off more of his acrobatics, if I could only pick one of these moves to happen it would be this one.

The Mario Galaxy Spin could honestly work great in any of the special spots but if we're removing F.L.U.D.D, I'd think it'd work as a good down special (and a callback to his other spin attack down special). It could also have some of the cape's reflective properties as the spin was used to send projectiles back at enemies in Mario Galaxy

However if we wanted to keep F.L.U.D.D. on as part of the move-set it'd be neat to incorporate the other nuzzles from Sunshine as well. Maybe, once Mario gets a full tank of water, he'd could use the squirt nozzle like normal or opt to give himself a one-use hover when jumping, or boost his up special with rocket, or give himself an even stronger dash attack with turbo. It's a neat idea but I could definitely see that being too complicated.

And for a new Final Smash? There's a lot you can do but I think the iconic superstar invincibility would make the most sense, I used the Galaxy version of the power because the regular star is already an item and I just think it looks cooler. I would also accept the Mega Mushroom.
