Dear Reader:
Kids learn about creating video games in art class
“Video games are something very familiar to them, but what I learned from doing this was that they are totally unaware of what goes into making a video game. They had no idea that it took artists and writers. I think it really opened their eyes to new and interesting career options as well as not taking a really good game for granted.” - Elisabeth Willis, 7th Grade Art Teacher
You can bet that a 7th grade class is full of gamers, and what better way to get kids engaged in an art project than by letting them make their own video game worlds? Not only do they get to go all-out on art, they can also relate to the project due to their own video game experience. On top of that, they find out that games only come together when you have artists, writers, programmers and all sorts of people working together.
