We don't have any other details than that right now! I bet we hear a lot more about these projects come tomorrow!
Hoping for a Gaiden remake, but I'll accept a spinoff too.
Goodbye handheld space.
What's next for news Nintendo? Going 3rd party? Sheesh.
What does that have to do with anything? lol. They said they'd be releasing five mobile apps and games based on popular IPs this fiscal year. Don't be so surprised when they announce, shockingly, mobile apps and games based on popular IPs.
Prediction: the Fire Emblem app will be the petting mechanic taken out of Fates and optimized for mobile! You heard it here first, folks!
But real talk, I am curious how this is gonna play out. I didn't have the most faith in miitomo at first, but finally playing it sold me on the fact that Nintendo has no intentions to throw their console/handheld market under the bus for a few mobile apps. So let's see where this goes.
Personally, I'm hoping these new apps (at least the Animal Crossing one) will have some ties to future AC games.

But we still don't know that for sure yet though. 10 Million is twice as much as one of their major titles in just on an app.
We do really have to see where this goes. Cause if it's going full stream(Digital Releases Only; No physical Game Products) and/or garbage app "games", I'll be going out the door. The Global launch might not sound to reassuring in that regard. . .
I mean, 10 million downloads only plays a small part in the equation. What's important is the audience retention and profits. Two things Nintendo hasn't really gone into heavy detail about. Especially the latter, where the most they could say about revenue was "not too far from reality" as opposed to giving actual figures.
I can see them increasing their efforts in the mobile market if more of their game/apps are becoming successful, but the only way I see their handheld/console endeavors shrinking is if the sales and profits truly pale in comparison. Thankfully, that doesn't seem like it'll be the case anytime soon... but yeah, only time will tell.
