Nintendo bringing Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem apps to mobile

We don't have any other details than that right now! I bet we hear a lot more about these projects come tomorrow!

Hoping for a Gaiden remake, but I'll accept a spinoff too.

Considering Nintendo stated they won't be putting existing games on phones and the use of the term 'apps' as oppose to 'games', it seems likely these will be like nothing we've seen the franchises do before.

God I'm glad I got a new cell phone that should be able to run these :D (Nexus 5X)

Notice they used the term Apps and not the term Games.

Animal Crossing isn't a game, it's life

Goodbye handheld space.

What's next for news Nintendo? Going 3rd party? Sheesh.

What does that have to do with anything? lol. They said they'd be releasing five mobile apps and games based on popular IPs this fiscal year. Don't be so surprised when they announce, shockingly, mobile apps and games based on popular IPs.

That's right. They said Apps And Games. So, where are those games? All I see are apps. That's 3 Apps and still no Games. They are 2 Apps and 5 Games short if that is the case.

Prediction: the Fire Emblem app will be the petting mechanic taken out of Fates and optimized for mobile! You heard it here first, folks!

But real talk, I am curious how this is gonna play out. I didn't have the most faith in miitomo at first, but finally playing it sold me on the fact that Nintendo has no intentions to throw their console/handheld market under the bus for a few mobile apps. So let's see where this goes.

Personally, I'm hoping these new apps (at least the Animal Crossing one) will have some ties to future AC games.

But we still don't know that for sure yet though. 10 Million is twice as much as one of their major titles in just on an app.
We do really have to see where this goes. Cause if it's going full stream(Digital Releases Only; No physical Game Products) and/or garbage app "games", I'll be going out the door. The Global launch might not sound to reassuring in that regard. . .

I mean, 10 million downloads only plays a small part in the equation. What's important is the audience retention and profits. Two things Nintendo hasn't really gone into heavy detail about. Especially the latter, where the most they could say about revenue was "not too far from reality" as opposed to giving actual figures.

I can see them increasing their efforts in the mobile market if more of their game/apps are becoming successful, but the only way I see their handheld/console endeavors shrinking is if the sales and profits truly pale in comparison. Thankfully, that doesn't seem like it'll be the case anytime soon... but yeah, only time will tell.

lol I was thinking of the petting game too. But it probably would be better for their image to keep that in Fates than to the general public...
