Arguably the most well-known indie game of all time

I honestly don't know where to sit on that argument... I mean, is it really the most renowned indie game ever alone? Sure, it generated a lot of buzz, but then again it'd have to clash with other big names such as Minecraft, Fez, Braid, Shovel Knight and such. Hell, for 1-man efforts you may count in even things like most of those Touhou shmup titles!

Yeah, but remember, Cave Story is a good bit older than most of those titles. IIRC the whole retro-style, sprite-based indie trend came on the heels of Cave Story's success in the mid-2000's.

Yeah, longevity definitely plays in favor of Cave Story but still, not sure whether it's more common-knowledge than something like Minecraft for popularity's sake alone...

Strangely, for some reason, I don't really see Minecraft as an indie game for some reason. I'm not sure why exactly, though. It doesn't really have to do with the Microsoft buyout (which actually would technically not make them indie anymore)

I can see your subjective point, but technically it still -is- a game made by a (then) independent studio, so the point still stands ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, it wasn't meant as a counterargument or anything. Just a peculiarity that I wonder if other people also have

I'd say out of those, only Minecraft is more iconic. Although I think Shovel Knight might be seen as about equal years from now.

I wonder, will be able to switch back to the original graphics (a la the Wiiware version)?

How about Kero Blaster next plz?

I bought it on PS4 recently and I think I liked it more than Cave Story.

This. Kero Blaster looks like a lot of fun and the only thing that's kept me from playing it yet is that it hasn't been on any Nintendo consoles.

Just as a heads up, I've had this preordered on Amazon for about a week or two now. It's already been live for some time.
