Nintendo ending production of New 3DS in Japan doesn't affect North America, says rep

Coming from a Nintendo rep, following today's news of the New 3DS being discontinued in Japan.

"This announcement does not affect Nintendo of America territories, as the model in question was only sold in limited quantities as special offerings. There are no changes to the sales status of New Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS or the upcoming New Nintendo 2DS XL, which launches on July 28."

And it begins... it had a good run... started off rough at the start, but it was able to pick its self up and recover.

The standard sized New 3DS had a very limited release in North America compared to the rest of the world.

Can't affect what was already discontinued.

I'm glad I got my own new 3DS small model. I really wish the Faceplates took off, but I'm very satisfied with the amount I've imported here.

Was legit trying to find one online yesterday lol just my luck

Right - it doesn't impact the tens of units available in each state.

Genuinely a shame. Think what you want about the face-plate idea, this thing is the best version of 3DS with pocketability in mind. The latest edition was a hell of a deal compared to the New XL; game and AC adapter, for $50 less.

Not sure why this was downvoted when it was merely stating the fact that no changes were made to current 3DS model availability in NA.

Would you feel better if they announced they were ending production on something they aren't even producing for this market?

That's exactly what they did.

No. They put out a statement saying that NHQ's announcement pertaining to Japan does not have any effect on anything going on in NoA's market.

And the story got downvoted. So my question was, would people have been happier and less down-votey if NoA lied and said they were ending production on something they weren't even producing for this market in the first place. Because all they are doing here is stating neutral facts that were already well known.

I'd feel better if they just straight up stopped focusing on the 3DS at all.

Part of me wanted a small size N3DS due to pixel perfect quality, but the XL has better buttons so I went for the XL. Granted, I sorta regretted it due to the lack of exclusives, but part of me still wants to get the faceplate for Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon since that's my current favorite Game of All Time and I want it as a collectible before the prices hike.

So does the new 3DS XL still in production in Japan? Because if so, its no wonder why they end the small model.

I prefer the smaller model. The XL is...well...big. I also heard that some games are stretched out on it?
