Nintendo looking to trademark Nintendo Switch Online image, as well as 'Switch'

Nintendo has filed to trademark the Nintendo Switch Online image seen above, as related to ‘programs for home video game machine and others, Providing connection etc and Providing images using communication etc’. The Big N has also filed to trademark the word Switch, this time independently of the Nintendo prefix.

It's not as dumb as it sounds. They're probably only going to trademark the word when it comes to video game consoles. Not the actual word "switch".

So they wanna...own...the word itself? Stupid.

(Updated 1 time)

German Rapper Bushido trademarked the word "Bushido" in Germany and the Pay-TV Platform Sky trademarked the word "Sky" in Europe which lead to a month long trademark war between Sky and "No Man's Sky", almost hindered the game to release in Europe under that name. And there seems to be a company who trademarked the word "Titan" in Europe since it is not possible to release an "Attack on Titan" Videogame under that name in Europe.

When it comes to trademark and copyright, the world, led by Japan, lost it's mind long ago. So seeing this news, it doesen't surprise me.

That's like trademarking the word apple, oh wait!
