Nyko's Portable Switch Docking Kit might be bricking the Switch charging port

The Nyko Portable Switch Docking Kit seems to be a well-made product for the large majority of people. The thing is, there are a handful of users who are reporting a major issue with the kit. Apparently some users have found that the dock has fried their Switch charging port, leaving them without a way to juice up the system. Nyko's statement on the issue is below.

We always run our products through rigorous testing procedures. Any of our products that have electrical components also carry all required certifications like CE, UL, ROHS, etc., to ensure that they meet quality and safety standards. We are only aware of one instance that came through our customer support team. We are investigating it now and taking care of that customer.
