Nintendo UK store says a 23GB download is required for Doom

The Nintendo UK store has an interesting blurb on the side of its preorder page for DOOM. It seems there's some sort of required download for the game, even when talking retail.

To use this software, a download of 23GB via a wireless internet connection is required. An additional microSD card may also be required.

Now we know the multiplayer aspect must be downloaded, but is that what this 23GB is referring to? We honestly have no idea, but we're trying to get more info.
