As we shared earlier today, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 took the second spot on this week's Japanese software charts. The title managed to move 96,274 units. This debut is actually higher than what Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X pulled in in their debut weeks. The same thing happened in the UK earlier in the week. It's awesome to see such excitement surrounding the game!
I've never even played the first two, but I preloaded this one. Felt like the right time to give the series a shot, and though I'm only a couple hours in, I'm loving it! Very cool, even though I'm not a big RPG player. It's complex, but they give it to you in digestible chunks and it makes a lot more sense than I worried it would. It's also huge, and feels like incredible value for the money.
This is really good news for Monolith Soft. Not only for their brand awareness, but the confidence that Nintendo have in them to continue making more ambitious RPGs.
Hey Nintendo, remember how you sold official soundtrack albums for both of those previous games.
Maybe it might be a good idea to do the same for the more popular title.
Sales of previous titles for some context. The #s are first week sales and LTD. The main question is the staying power.

97k is a bit lower than I had predicted for the FW (predicted 118k), but I still think 165k for the rest of the year is possible.
Also, that number doesn't count digital sales. With it, it's probably a bit higher than 100k.
