Attack on Titan 2 is coming to the Switch, and by all accounts, it's shaping up to be better than the original. HardcoreGamer sat down with producer Mr. Hisashi Koinuma to discuss changes for the sequel, how the original came to be, and more.

- the popularity of the manga, as well as Koinuma's own interest in the franchise prompted him to create the games
- Koinuma was a fan of the manga, and contacted Kodansha to request the license to make a game
- from the start, Koinuma felt including the omni-directional gear in the game would be key
- for the sequel, the focus improving the omni-directional movement introduced in the first game
- the team also wanted to change how players interacted with the Titans
- the devs also wanted to make encounters with the Titans more frightening
- the sequel has more than 30 characters, as more characters were requested by fans
- fans also complained about unique in-game communications and the first game being too easy, so these were addressed
- including features like My Town required approval from Kodansha and creator, Hajime Isayama.
- fans can rest assured that everything in the game was indeed approved and consistent with the established world.
- “Zoe Hange” is Koinuma's favorite character, citing her overly-passionate personality as the main reason
