Atari bringing RollerCoaster Tycoon to Switch no matter what the outcome of the crowdfunding effort

GN Version 5.0

Atari caused quite a bit of outrage for their crowdfunding campaign to bring the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise to Switch. It was unclear why Atari wanted so much money, and just what would happen with the cash donated.

Now here's the good news. Tucked away in the FAQ is a detail well worth mentioning. Atari plans to release their RollerCoaster Tycoon project on Switch no matter how much money comes in.

Why did Atari Game Partners decide to ask people on the internet for money instead of publishing as it has in the past? Does it not have the capital to front the development and distribution costs?

As a publisher, Atari has started the development of the game and will release it no matter what the outcome of the campaign, because it has the resources to do it. This is clearly set forth on Page 14 of the Offering Details http://bit.ly/2Bs81oi: “For the further avoidance of doubt, if we do not raise 100% of the funds, our majority stockholder intends to provide additional funding or credit in exchange for the balance of the Net Receipts not distributed to the Investors.”

Now I guess we just sit back and wait to see what happens! Thanks to AwesomeplatterFan for the heads up!
