Nintendo reconfirms that playtime glitch will get a fix, and does not permanently remove playtime totals

A couple days ago, Nintendo released a statement about the playtime glitch that was impacting may Switch owners. The glitch was causing playtime to disappear for some users, but Nintendo has confirmed that they were investigating the situation. Now they've released more info, and said the glitch will be fixed in an upcoming update. The good news is that the glitch does not cause a permanent loss of data.

Furthermore, it seems the glitch is correcting itself for some users. Once the 10-day mark is passed for first-year data, it seems play totals return to normal. In other words, either Nintendo will fix the issue with a patch, or the issue will sort itself out in 10 days!
