Nintendo applies for Eevee trademark in China

Nintendo has just submitted a request to grab the trademark for Eevee’s official Chinese name in Hong Kong. Yet another bit of Pokemon-related news that could seemingly tie into the latest Pokemon Switch rumor. All this stuff seems to be happening at once, which is either pointing to the rumor being true, or this is one hell of a coincidence.

at this moment I think we can assume the rumors as true.

I don't want the rumors to be true, but it's starting to look like it.

There's been too much Eevee spotlight this last year to really gleam anything but now [even if I had been in denial that Gen 8 was next until these trademarks and that pika logo cropped up today].

I wonder what tipped the scales in Eevee's favor - was it just it's sheer evolution / playstyle variety / fan popularity / merchandise sales power? Since, as most know, it was Clefairy that was almost the mascot for the series instead of Pikachu.

Eevee was Gary's first Pokémon in the anime and Pokémon Yellow, so if Yellow is getting a remake this the easiest way to make a second version.

No, Squirtle was Gary's first Pokemon in the anime. Gary didn't get an Eevee until the anime was shifting gears into Johto (so after the Orange islands, but before Ash left to Johto).

The Yellow connection makes sense tho.

Oops, I stand corrected. I haven't watched the anime since it originally aired, so I'm a little rusty in that area.
