Aksys Games is thrilled to announce that Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of Dusk, the newest installment in the Jake Hunter series, will be making its physical and digital debut for the Nintendo 3DS™ in Fall 2018.

A homeless man’s accidental death draws hard-nosed detective Jake Hunter into the shadow of a mysterious mansion—but all is not as it appears at the seemingly innocuous crime scene, and Jake can’t shake the hunch that something is amiss. With the help of an old friend, Jake works to get to the bottom of the crime and uncover the true culprit’s identity. THANK YOU! Thank you!!
I'd been waiting a long time before we got Jake Hunter on the Nintendo DS, and I'm super happy to have the series return for us to understand and play.

Thank you so very much.

It looks interesting but I never played anything on the series and don't know how it plays, it's similar to Hotel Dusk on DS?

It's a lot like other point 'n click mystery adventure visual novel games, like Hotel Dusk, Phoenix Wright, and Chase: Cold Case Investigations, but heavy on being a visual novel more than anything else, like Lux Pain and Time Hollow. It's a film noir-type visual novel and I really like it, but like Virtue's Last Reward (part of the excellent Zero Escape series), you can't really lose.

If you're interested in the DS games, skip Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles, and get Jake Hunter: Detective Story - Memories of the Past. Detective Chronicles only had 3 of of the chapters included, had bland writing, and the extras were removed. Memories of the Past is the complete version that was released in Japan with additional cases (the ones that were removed, plus a brand new one), new extra episodes (you can lose in these), and a new, much better translation.

I haven't played Jake Hunter but I like these types of games. It's been out for awhile in Japan -- I wonder how it fared with fans and critics. If it's a good game I would love to pick it up and really appreciate they are doing a physical release.
