E3 2018 social media monitoring shows Sony getting the most discussion, followed closely by Nintendo

While this study doesn't show us whether the chatter is good or bad, you can see that Nintendo is getting quite a bit of attention during E3 2018. Sony still takes the cake for most discussion, but Nintendo is certainly in the mix. What a difference a couple of years makes!

Sony is getting the most chatter

I mean, it's likely just "Why is there a God damn intermission in the middle of a E3 conference!?"

Sony's presentation was definitely structured the most poorly, and at times was the most boring. But at the same, I feel like they showed the highest amount of games I was interested in.

Remember this doesn’t qualify positive or negative discussion. Just.....discussion.

Trump gets a lot of media attention too 😜

I have a feeling a chunk of the Sony discussion is their absolute bollocks handling of Fortnite accounts.

People are (rightfully) pissed.

I'd say a lot Nintendo's social media chatter is about how they made a balls of their E3 Direct and their E3 in general.

From what I've seen in social media comments on big Ns posts. Nope. They have been largely positive and full of excitement for Smash.

Sony's conference was so full of pretentious self indulgence that of course it was going to generate a lot of chatter.

Once again proving that despite what some people want to believe, the opinion of fanboys does not equal the opinion of the masses.
Whether fans are disappointed or not by this E3, the fact is that the general public liked it.

I wouldn’t use YouTube likes as a benchmark for the general public. Fans are the majority of likes or dislikes on YouTube videos. There are far more “fanboys” hitting the like/dislike buttons than the “average gamer”.

I also wouldn’t consider the general public to be very much aware of E3.

I agree. The above image means diddly squat.

When the E3 is aired on networks such as Disney XD and covered by pretty much every website and YouTuber relating to video games ever, It's ridiculous to say the public is not aware of it.
Ignoring YouTube responses is pretty silly when the conference and live stream was trending on the main page of the website. This is no longer 2006. The masses are fully aware and responsive to E3.

You’d have something resembling a point if the responses didn’t equate to ~ 3% of the viewership....

So is the case with virtually 99% of YouTube videos, or any poll under that logic for that matter.
If it wasn't a viable representative of audience response then what's the point of a like/dislike function then?

Teenage lesbians in an apocalyptic world gets the most chatter these days.

Even when Microsoft had the "best" conference this time around. Crazy.

Granted it was only the best because all the rest ranged from mediocre to just okay.

It doesn't matter to me if the opinion of Nintendo's E3 is mostly positive or mostly negative. Some people seem to think that as long as you are safely in the majority then you are right and if you are in the minority opinion you are wrong. Which is not true.

If most people liked Nintendo's E3 this year that does not mean the people who didn't like it are wrong and if most people didn't like Nintendo's E3 this year that does not mean the people who liked it are wrong.

Nobody had much of anything to announce for Switch. Not Nintendo and not third parties. I find that terribly disappointing. Nintendo decided to extend this awful 2018 new games drought even further by delaying two big games into 2019. No mention of what Retro has been working on. That is inexcusable at this point. Even if you can't reveal the game yet, say something to your fans. Third parties? Hello? This is a successful system. Are you going to announce any games??? Way too many 'no shows' for me to think of this E3 as anything but crap.

They clearly stated that they rather would showcase games that they are ready to show which means that they rather want to please people. It took three years to show off botw and Nintendo delayed it twice.

As for two games delayed next year, delaying games is a way to polish it. Be grateful that they are trying to make those games fun.

The only point that I can agree with you is retro studios which I agree is strange.

Sure, this e3 direct isn't the best but its far better than some others like ea. And Nintendo really doesn't want to participate at e3 at all because otherwise, they would have done a live performance.
