Analysts predict what's ahead for Switch in 2019, see it becoming the market leader

Now that we're in the new year, it's time for analysts to offer up their thoughts on what's going to happen with the big players in the game industry. Numerous analysts have chimed in on Nintendo to predict what's ahead for Switch. Here's a round-up of what was said.

NPD's Mat Piscatella

- Switch grows, leads market
- Switch achieves more than 35 share of hardware unit sales in the US in 2019
- Pokémon and continued strength of Nintendo's evergreen franchises drive the performance

Dr. Serkan Toto

- Nintendo will offer a "Switch Lite"
- they may also keep the current version and lower the price
- a lot more games from third-party developers in 2019 on Switch, starting in Spring
- at least one new game from the mega-franchises owned by EA, Activision or Take-Two will launch on Switch

Michael Pachter

- Nintendo will launch a fully handheld version of the Switch at $199.
- Joy-Con will be built into the body and there will not be a docking station

Piers Harding-Rolls, IHS Markit

- strong software performance on Switch
- Switch will be the best selling console in 2019
- we may get more details on how Nintendo aims to plug the gap in its portfolio left by the declining 3DS platform
