Wargroove has already made enough money to cover the cost of development

There you have it, gang. All the No. 1 debuts Wargroove saw on the Switch eShop, coupled with a successful Steam launch, have lead the game to monetary success. In a dev blog recently posted, we learn that development costs have already been completely covered following the game's launch.

First of all, I want to say how humbled and thankful we all are here at Chucklefish for the incredible launch weekend. It’s truly been amazing, we’ve already covered the cost of development and are throwing ourselves into improving the game further.
I imagine we'll be seeing Wargroove hanging around the top of the Switch eShop charts for weeks and weeks to come, and it certainly deserves that success!

Nice one! They deserved it for doing what Nintendon't.

Maybe Nintendont cause they knew Chucklefish do? Why make another game to compete against it and overshadow it. Plus I think it's got a lot to do with Fire Emblem being similar and that selling way more than Advance Wars did.

Also, indies have less money, but they also SPEND less by default. They can do it way cheaper than Nintendo. Nothing can tell us if Nintendo could actually earn back the dev costs as quickly as them with a new Advance War... And really, a new Advance war wouldn't look like this either.
(Just saying that I reply to you because I feel like what I'm saying is both in addition and support of what you said, not that I misunderstood and think we don't agree)

It's been about 10 years since the last Advance Wars. Nintendo hasn't avoided making one because nearly a decade down the line it predicted the future that some other company would make a similar game because Nintendo hadn't bothered in all that time.

These companies are great, I wish them the best of luck. The more we support them, the bigger and better their ideas become.

Good for them. They deserve it. The game is great, and it really feels well polished.

Loving the game so far, so I think well-deserved. :3 Ceasar is also freaking adorable. Love doggies. <3
