Creator of Commander Keen would love to make a new installment, but doesn't have the rights

Commander Keen in Keen Dreams, the 4th installment in the Commander Keen series, saw a release on Switch yesterday. The release came out of nowhere, and has fans wondering if the other installments will see release as well. Similarly, fans are also hoping that a new installment could be made, but that doesn't seem too likely.

Commander Keen creator Tom Hall was part of a Reddit AMA today, and he was asked about interest in making another installment. Turns out Hall would be keen on that, but he would need to strike a deal with other parties.

"Zenimax/id would have to. I would love to do a new Keen but don’t have the rights."

Hall has tried reaching out to the powers that be about working on a new installment for the franchise, but sadly, all he's gotten back is form letter responses.
