Mortal Kombat 11 is the first third party Switch game to use the higher speed GPU profile for handheld play

So powerful!

There are two games on the Switch that use a higher-speed GPU profile when being played in handheld mode; Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. We now have our first third party title to join them, which is Mortal Kombat 11. The game utilizes the 460mHz profile, which gives a boost to the graphics, but depletes your battery faster.

Two thumbs up for really going all in to port this game to Switch so good. But it's basically an eShop only game. That physical release is a joke at best, and it's a bad joke at that. Still, great work with the port.

It just sounds like they wanted to rush the game to launch along side the other consoles. If they waited and optimized and compressed the Switch port they could probably have gotten it onto the cart. I'm just grateful we got it at all on Switch (it could have gone the borderlands route) and it looks like it plays well.

I don't think it'sthat easy to just optimize it. It's obviously a huge game. But then again they probably worked hard to get it running in 60 FPS on Switch and obviously a big focus.

That Jax's ending sounds pretty delightful doesn't it?

It’d actually be nice if you could choose the higher performance profile for all games in handheld mode.

Exactly. At least give us a choice! There are some games which would have benefited greatly from the extra horsepower, so locking that out completely because some people want longer battery life just seems unfair.
