Along with new screens for AI: The Somnium Files, another round of gameplay details have been shared. Check out a summary of that info below.

- play as Kaname Date, a detective from a special department of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (known as ABIS)
- investigate in order to find a serial-killer in Tokyo
- investigations include Investigation Parts (in the real world), and the Somnium Parts
- in Somnium Parts, you go into the world of dreams for key characters
- in order to investigate in dreams, you have to use a mysterious machine known as PSYNC
- when in the world of dreams, you control a mysterious girl known as AI-Ball, which is Kaname’s very own artificial eye
- you can only stay in that world for 6 minutes
- while in dreams, clear various obstacles known as “Mental Locks” to find all the clues
- Mental Locks prevent you from accessing certain parts of the mind and memories of a person
- carefully examine things, then solve mysteries by making certain choices to get past these Mental Locks
- features a branching story line with several routes
- depending on the route you take, the story will change
- to see the story's true ending, you'll need to find the specific route and follow it through
- the dream world reflects the mind of each character, which is why each dream world looks radically different from the others
