DOOM Eternal has a host of new abilities to offer players, and that includes a dash mechanic. There's no doubt dashing about the map will make movement even more exciting, but according to a USGamer interview with executive producer Marty Stratton and creative director Hugo Martin, dashing pretty much broke the game when first implemented.

"Dash broke the game for quite a while because it just meant that nobody could touch you. So with the A.I. tuned the way they were from Doom 2016, and then we introduce dash; we gave the player these new abilities which felt great in isolation, when the A.I. didn't stand a chance. Sort of like the race car got faster, but the race track needed to get harder."

Obviously the team figured out how to make things work, and now dashing gives you a fighting chance, rather than making you untouchable.
