Tokyo RPG Factory, the developers of I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear, are big fans of 90s RPGs. The team constantly tries to recapture the feeling and spirit of those old-school games in their projects, and that includes the upcoming Oninaki. In an interview with USGamer, producer Ryutaro Sasaki explains why 90s titles are so important to them.

"So the fun feeling of RPGs that you had in the 90s, we feel that that doesn't change, like even if you play the game now it still feels fun. And we wanted to bring that kind of game to this era, and we did change from a turn-based RPG to an action-RPG with this time around, but that core idea hasn't changed at all."
