Pokemon movie director squashes long-standing theory about the original film

Back when the original Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back was announced, there was a promo video that featured the image above. That quick moment in the teaser featured someone who looked like Misty, alongside a child. Ever since this quick segment aired, fans have been thinking it was Misty and her child who appeared. Today we finally have an answer to that rumor.

Pokemon movie director Kunihiko Yuyama was asked about the scene while promoting Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back EVOLUTION. It turns out the scene was nothing more than two random people.

“Honestly, that's a great question. Thank you so much. But that actually was not an adult version of Misty. It was an image of an adult with a child. But I think a lot of people have misinterpreted that. It really was not an adult version of Misty.”
